Between History and Legend
Trabe is the ancient name of the river, whose springs flow from the foot of Mount Calpazio, from the same stone (Travertine) used by the founders of Posidonia to build their city.
Here, past and present intertwine, dating back to the Greeks, who built a temple dedicated to Persephone, the deity associated with renewal and the strength of nature. It was a place of worship for newlywed brides, who visited this site seeking protection and prosperity.
Le Trabe remains, in a modern sense, the guardian of new promises of love.
During the Middle Ages, along this river, the diligent monks who lived on the estate activated four mills to grind grain, harnessing the energy of the Trabe River.
In the early 1900s, the mills were converted into a small hydroelectric plant capable of generating clean energy. Today, thanks to significant architectural and environmental restoration efforts, the hydroelectric plant is operational once again.

The cuisine at Le Trabe begins with the land seasonal products grown in our garden. We respect the cycles of vegetation and animals. The creation of a biodynamic garden and a chicken coop stems from our desire to prepare a dish even before cooking it. We trust in nature and its rhythms.
